Knowledge Engineering Term is Coined

The Fifth Generation is Published

Combining information from Wikipedia and Amazon.com, we learn that in May of 1983, the term "Knowledge Engineering" is defined as

"an engineering discipline that involves integrating knowledge into computer systems in order to solve complex problems normally requiring a high level of human expertise."

In this blog and on this web site, we take this general definition to be useful and accurate for our purposes.  We intend to cover theories and practices relating to the entire process of integrating knowledge into computer systems, and believe that as we automate more and more of this process, this discipline will become more and more valuable to more and more applications.
